When I joined the maths intervention, I was a bit apprehensive as I needed certain method that would help my students as well as me. The worksheets are quite viable and students mostly approach them with a positive outlook. The best part of this maths programme are the videos. They are really helpful. When I watch them with my students, they clear my doubts and I feel ready to deliver lessons with a clear and positive mindset. I really enjoyed rounding up, place value data handling with my students. The phrase “five or above give it a shove” stays with my students and they can do their rounding up without much confusion. The assessment sheets help me in placing them exactly where they are, and to my surprise some of my students have made it back to their normal maths lessons confidently. I believe the whole programme is quite viable and lucrative for our students and helps them in mastering their skills.
We recognise that some students may leave primary school without meeting maths expectations for the end of Key Stage 2, influenced by factors like additional needs, extended absences, family challenges, or the fast-paced curriculum. This poses challenges for secondary schools in identifying specific understanding and skills gaps across all maths areas and providing additional support before transitioning to secondary learning.
Without addressing and securing these gaps, which are crucial for building strong foundations, students may struggle to fully engage with the secondary curriculum and reach their mathematical potential. Our programme offers a solution by collaborating with your school to assess students and identify where their misunderstanding goes back to within the primary years curriculum. Using this information, we create a ‘Roadmap’ of tutorials tailored to each student’s needs, guiding them to fill these gaps and establish a solid understanding. Our video tutorials are designed to be simple and easy to follow for support staff, each offering three levels of work along with corresponding answers.
As students engage with the programme, we work in tandem with your school to ensure progress through their individual Roadmaps. This closes gaps, boosts their confidence and prepares them for the transition to Key Stage 3/4.
