When I joined the maths intervention, I was a bit apprehensive as I needed certain method that would help my students as well as me. The worksheets are quite viable and students mostly approach them with a positive outlook. The best part of this maths programme are the videos. They are really helpful. When I watch them with my students, they clear my doubts and I feel ready to deliver lessons with a clear and positive mindset. I really enjoyed rounding up, place value data handling with my students. The phrase “five or above give it a shove” stays with my students and they can do their rounding up without much confusion. The assessment sheets help me in placing them exactly where they are, and to my surprise some of my students have made it back to their normal maths lessons confidently. I believe the whole programme is quite viable and lucrative for our students and helps them in mastering their skills.
We recognise that some students, upon transitioning from secondary school to college, may not have attained their maths GCSE or equivalent qualification. During their time in college, they not only pursue their desired courses but also endeavour to acquire the necessary maths qualification. This situation often leads to students feeling disillusioned, lacking confidence in maths, with many having significant gaps in their maths foundations from primary school.
Without identifying and addressing these gaps, students may face challenges progressing further and achieving their maths qualifications and therefore pursuing their chosen career routes. Our programme offers a solution by collaborating with you to assess students, identify gaps in their maths understanding and skills and identify where their misunderstanding goes back to within the primary years curriculum. This information is then used to create a personalised ‘Roadmap’ of tutorials, guiding students to fill these gaps and establish a secure understanding. Our video tutorials, designed for easy comprehension by support staff, provide three levels of work along with corresponding answers.
As students engage with the programme, we work with you to ensure their progress through the Roadmap closes gaps, boosts their confidence and prepares them to move towards obtaining their GCSE qualification.
